I didn't seem to find any particular studios located in SF that are inspiring and exciting, which was quite disappointing. These three studios however, seem successful and include areas of expertise I'm interested in.

Forma & Co
http://www.forma.co/
Forma seems like a studio more playful and colourful much like my style. Browsing through their work I liked a lot of what they produce, and it isn't too minimal or formal.
Form is an independent study of Barcelona dedicated to graphic communication. Founded by Joel Lozano and Daniel Navarro, works in corporate identity projects, communication strategy, editorial design, illustration, animation and web.
Hey
http://heystudio.es/about/
Hey is a graphic design studio based in Barcelona, Spain.Hey's work is exciting, especially as their interests and skills match mine really well. Can't say I'm a huge fan of their constant use of geometric shapes, but their overall style is fun and eye-catching. 'We love geometry, color and direct typography.'
We specialise in brand identity, editorial design and illustration.
Cocolia

Cocolia's work is very art-based but they are multi-disciplinary. Their work is very expressive and completely appeals to the artist in me.
P.A.R.

There is something refreshing about their work that draws me in. One of their disciplines is art direction which is something that interests me and I'd like to get involved in.
Vasava
http://www.vasava.es/
The main emotion that drives Vasava is boredom. Boredom with the ordinary. The run of the mill. The “just OK.” Vasava hate that stuff. They like to run riot with ideas, trample convention and turn the upside down upside down. They have a great energy to their work and seem to be involved with art direction and advertising. Their 'about' section portrays their personality well, and makes them seem enthusiastic.
Querida

Their work could be described as incredibly 'on-trend', but their designs are simplistic and vibrant.

Our Polite Society

I've found Barcelona the most exciting city for vibrant design and enthusiasm. However there will be drawbacks, such as language. I'm not aware of what the boundaries are for most studios in hiring non-Spanish speaking designers. This is something I could research into.
