Visiting Professionals // Maraid Design

Today the duo from Maraid came to give a talk on what they do. I found it a great insight into the industry.

They are a digital agency that specialise in creating websites, something which I'm not particularly interested in but any insight is helpful.

They pointed out their main inspirations...

Books, below are some I found intriguing:
  • In Loving Memory of Work
  • Songbook
  • Black Hole
Films
  • Slow West
  • Route for Love
  • Cyclo
  • Chinatown
Architecture
Travel
Music
Ephemera
Creating an archive of website design
Museum and galleries

Some helpful points from their presentation:
  • They are a freelance team, which means they pay proper tax, rather than a LLP which pays a lot less.
  • they keep an updated blog on the go, which clients like, as it humanises them and shows some of their likes and personality.
  • having a online presence helps with getting jobs, and good contact to have with other creatives.
